Blog 5 - Last Film Blog Ever!

As I'm sure you all know by now, I will no longer be teaching Film Analysis in the Brick School District. While my class is being handed over to very capable English teachers in each building, what advice can you offer to whomever the new Film teacher is?

Be as specific as you like. This will also act as your way of telling me what you enjoyed most (or least) about the class over the past year.

Your comments are due by 7:15 A.M. on Friday, June 5, 2009.

* Reminder, your final projects will begin on Monday, June 8, 2009. *

Blog 3 - Adaptations

O' Brother, Where Art Thou? - (2000)

This film is a lose adaptation of Homer's Odyssey. Though the film is not told in the same manner as the book, does the film accurately translate the essence of the story to the big screen?

Calculating your Final Grade

If you are looking to calculate your final grade for the year, here is the formula:

1st Quarter Grade x .2125 = ____
2nd Quarter Grade x .2125 = ____
3rd Quarter Grade x .2125 = ____
4th Quarter Grade x .2125 = ____
Final Exam Grade x .15 = ____

Add all these numbers together, and if they total more than 69.5, you will pass for the year.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
For Example:
1st Quarter Grade 85 x .2125 = 18.063
2nd Quarter Grade 75 x .2125 = 15.938
3rd Quarter Grade 80 x .2125 = 17.000
4th Quarter Grade 70 x .2125 = 14.875
Final Exam Grade 80 x .15 = 12.000
Sum of all numbers = 77.87 <--- Congratulations, you pass.

BUT: 1st Quarter Grade 65 x .2225 = 13.813
2nd Quarter Grade 60 x .2125 = 12.75
3rd Quarter Grade 60 x .2125 = 12.75
4th Quarter Grade 70 x .2125 = 14.875
Final Exam Grade 95 x .15 = 14.25
Sum of all numbers = 68.438 <---- Sorry, you did not pass.
